How Hydrogen Association Ice float?
Water has unique properties. One of them, that is liquid water more dense than the frozen water (ice). In fact, most of the substance on Earth is more dense in solid form than its liquid form.
How did this phenomenon happen? This hydrogen bond prevents the water molecules in ice are very strong bond. As a result, there are many voids between the water molecules in ice. This hydrogen bond breaks down when the ice melts. Thus, water molecules can interact more closely and form a more solid structure. Number of voids in the structure of ice causes the ice is lighter than water. That's why ice floats on water.
